Can Caprica Fans Bring Down Blood & Chrome (Still waiting on an Air Date)

Once more the Battlestar Galactica franchise has sprung one more spin off series that will be called Blood & Chrome. The SyFy channel has given a few details regarding the concept and the approach of the new series. This series promises to not make the same mistakes as Caprica, which focused more on the drama and in the development of characters. The writer’s have mentioned to intend the focus on the actual early years of the war against the Cylons. Making Blood & Chrome a more action based series instead of having a soap opera.

Many diehard fans of Battlestar Galactica have mixed feelings towards Blood & Chrome. Confusion can arise from trying to link the Caprica characters to Blood & Chrome. Since both series are part of Battlestar Galactica, fans expect to be a continuum of at least the same theme to connect the series with the original. That’s where I think the SyFy channel did wrong on cancelling Caprica, how do they expect the viewers to receive and accept a new series, where they could have just continued with Caprica.

The writers are setting themselves up if they do not explain the gap of events from the ending of Caprica to the beginning of Blood & Chrome. Fans were disappointed at the fact that Caprica was cancelled without explaining key factors that everyone wanted to know. Story holes, such as what happen to Tamara? How does the STO fit in with the cylons? Why the cylons did only respond to Lacy? What made the cylons gain full conscious and rebel against their creators? What happened to Daniel Graystone, Clarice, Amanda, Joseph, Sam? Many unanswered questions if you ask me.

With all this been said, the SyFy channel is relying on the fan base from Battlestar Galactica to ignite the ratings for Blood & Chrome. How can they convince the fans to sit and watch this new series? If they were unable to sustain their word of backing up Caprica till the end. The SyFy channel has not revealed any particular air date for Blood & Chrome. Yet fans are anticipating, waiting patiently to see how Blood and Chrome develops. I Expect fans to become the biggest critics and downfall of the show. Just like the SyFy channel did with Caprica, fans now have the chance to turn around and not watch Blood & Chrome, bringing it to an early demise.
